Officina Design Shop by Electa

Specializing in design and graphics, the bookshop offers visitors to the ADI Design Museum and interested readers a wide range of new products from leading Italian and international publishers, with a focus on Gio Ponti and Adriano Olivetti, two fundamental personalities from the world of creativity and business.

The design and décor of the bookshop and the coffee shop, entirely in copper (an antibacterial and easily recyclable material), was entrusted to the architect Marco Ferreri, winner of the Compasso d’Oro Career Award in 2020. He has come up with a unique space, organized with furnishings whose  functions are defined by the items they exhibit.

Leonardo Sonnoli, who was awarded the XXII Compasso d’Oro in 2011, has been entrusted with the design of an identity/brand merchandising collection, visualisation of the internal graphics and a coordinated line of objects used in the Officina Design space

A carefully selected theme-based range of titles and publications for children by well-known contemporary illustrators will surround a green island offering highly topical reading matter along with curiosities with which to explore the extraordinary life and powers of plants, green atmospheres and the principles of biodiversity. In addition there are hand-made items with a “sustainable” design, made using cellulose fibre and a wide selection of rare seeds.

There is also a selection of certified eco-friendly fine  stationery products designed and produced by “independent” creative professionals.

Alongside books and magazines, it will also be possible to buy merchandising products from top brands, leading icons of Italian design and a number of Compasso d’Oro Award-winning products such as the Parentesi and May Day lamps by Flos, Eclisse, Tolomeo and Tizio by Artemide and the Ossidiana espresso coffee maker by Alessi.

Both displays and products will be frequently updated and there will also be temporary stands from companies who will “sign” a section of the exhibition space, with dedicated products and installations.
