Bìos – Italian Design System. Video installation Politecnico di Milano

Bìos – Italian Design System is a video installation presented by ADI Design Museum, developed in collaboration with POLI.design – Sistema Design Politecnico di Milano.

The project portrays design as an ever-evolving network of relationships. Over time, design has expanded its scope, influencing not only objects but also people, behaviors, and social dynamics. Within this system, ADI plays an active role: it connects experiences, promotes projects, and—through the ADI Design Index and the Compasso d’Oro Award—represents the cultural and systemic dimension of Italian design.

The video installation translates these connections into images. Drawing on data from ADI Design Index submissions between 2011 and 2020, a dynamic map takes shape, revealing designers, territories, and the distribution of projects across the country. The projects are organized into categories that reflect the evolution and breadth of contemporary design. Finally, the Compasso d’Oro Award winners emerge: illuminated presences that guide the viewer’s gaze and accompany visitors into the museum.
