Reason for the award:
Reflecting on the theme of safety and urban mobility, the design team focused on small vehicles and developed this two-seater car. As the name suggests, Nido welcomes and protects the driver thanks to three main elements: a frame made up of a deformable front section and a rigid cell around the occupants; a shell that houses the driver and passenger and behaves like a sledge capable of sliding horizontally on a central guide; two absorbers that act as energy dissipators. In the event of a frontal impact, the car absorbs part of the energy through the deformable front section of the frame: the rest instead determines the movement of the sled in the direction of the impact and allows a gradual and controlled deceleration on the occupants. The colour choices also emphasize the elements related to safety
