GREEN OVER GRAY. A Tribute to Emilio Ambasz
ADI Design Museum presents Green over Gray. A Tribute to Emilio Ambasz, an exhibition curated by Fulvio Irace and dedicated to Emilio Ambasz, architect, designer, and theorist, recipient of the 2020 Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award and internationally recognized as a pioneer of a new alliance between architecture and nature.
The exhibition title refers to the manifesto Green over Gray, a synthesis of Ambasz’s radical vision, which advocates an architecture capable of reconciling human construction with the natural world by placing green above gray. Since the 1970s, Ambasz has anticipated key issues of environmental sustainability and the climate crisis, envisioning buildings able to return to the community—through gardens and landscapes—the entire surface area occupied by construction.
The exhibition features drawings, images, and project materials that convey the ethical, poetic, and civic dimension of his thinking, according to which design must propose new and better ways of existing. The exhibition design, by Jacopo Irace, is enhanced by a video by Francesca Molteni / Museweb, bringing into the exhibition space Ambasz’s own voice and his vision of the world as a planetary garden.
