Design della cura

Design della cura

The concept of care encompasses a set of issues that directly graft theories and practices originally conceived for the healthcare sector onto the very body of our society. It focuses on people and their needs, especially when they are in conditions of fragility due primarily to illness or disability, but also to environmental or economic challenges. This is an area in which design can intervene thanks to its human-centered vocation—whether through products, services, or communication.

The topic is, of course, extremely broad, and requires cultivating an attitude capable of addressing complexity through the functional lens of care. For this reason, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, which has long been active in these fields, has developed a Second-Level Diploma program specifically titled Design della Cura, launched in October 2025. The diploma aims to train professionals capable of designing services, products, and pathways that place the care of individuals at the center, in the most inclusive way possible—from health design to sustainable communities.

The event organized by the Accademia at the ADI Design Museum seeks to highlight, through project-based testimonies, the drivers that will guide the structure of the program over its four semesters, each dedicated respectively to Concept, Research, Technology, and Management.
