Luminator Floor lamp with indirect light

With the presenting of the "La Rinascente Compasso d'Oro 1955" award to the lamp designed by A. and PG Castiglioni, the Jury wants to draw attention to the formal synthesis emerging from a lightweight yet stable framework which has been designed to introduce a typically industrial and long-lasting product such as a light bulb into the world of domestic light sources. The correctness and rigour with which the materials have been used, the exemplary simplicity of the composition, the adaptation of the light source to the supporting framework and the dimensional relationships between the parts in relation to the height of the average room in a modern house all make this lamp a unique result that takes into account the various components of an object of industrial production in relation to its surrounding destination.
