Macchina per cucire “BU [Supernova]”

Reason for the award:

The sewing machine initially created with simple, well-expressive rounded shapes, has since been altered with gratuitous decorations and finally complicated by mechanical excess. Today, precisely when its mechanics have become more complicated due to the multiplicity of facilities offered, it is resolving itself into more essential forms, according to that formal-technical development process that accompanies products in their most intelligent expressions. This Necchi machine combines the values of excellent production with those due to the aesthetic control exercised by Marcello Nizzoli, an artist with proven experience in the field of "design for industry". In addition to the result, the "Compasso d'Oro de la Rinascente 1954" award for the Necchi BU also recognizes the circumstances that have created it and the example it represents
